I Am an Incredibly Nerdy Runner*

So today on the Galloway Trail in Springfield, Linden and I met a local news anchor on the trail, who runs for Team in Training and just finished a marathon (the station did a story about it).

So tonight I’m watching the news and I e-mail her just to say congrats on the marathon and to say hello. Now I feel like a groupie, but who knows…maybe I’ve made a new running friend!

Today I Am Fast*

Today was awesome. Let me preface…

Linden and I generally run between 11:30 and 12:00 3-milers, and we’ve been doing some tempo runs about once a week (heck, we even cranked out an 8:59 one-miler a few weeks ago).

We issued a running challenge to our friends and family this September, and the response has been surprising. We were simply hoping a handful of peeps would join us for a 5K; not only have several committed to the 5K, but two have also committed to running the half marathon with us in November.

And now we have a running group, not just a pair, but a group. We’re running together three days a week plus we have a long run on the weekends with a big training group for the half marathon.

So, today, it was just me and Allison, who is a tad bit faster than me (this is an adjustment because when Linden and I run, I’m a bit faster). We did our easy three miles, talking as we went, and low and behold, we were booking it! We finished in 34:01…a record ‘easy’ 3-miler for me. Woot!

P.S. Thanks, Allison!
