"Christians" Preaching a God of Hate? Hmm…

September 11th, 2007

I need to keep this post short tonight because I have a crapload to do before I go to bed, but some like-minded friends of ours told us about this video on YouTube. Dubbed “The Most Hated Family in America,” they picket soldier’s funerals and condemn pretty much everyone; furthermore, they preach that God hates both America and you.

I watched the first two (there are seven or eight), and I’m sharing the first with you. I am actually sad to share this because I don’t want to acknowledge that people who call themselves Christians actually behave like this. I could give you an outline of verses (in context) that argue where they are wrong, but I hope any real Christ-follower can see through their lies without a dissertation from me.

Let’s just leave it at this: As real Christ-followers, we must be extra deliberate to LOVE people and then speak truth into their lives when the time is right.

P.S. At a family reunion this summer, I learned that one of my dad’s cousins and her husband are a part of veterans biker group. Whenever there’s a soldier’s funeral in the Kansas City area, they get on their hogs and “guard” the funeral. I’m guessing that they’re guarding some of the same funerals these people are picketing.

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. —1 Corinthians 1:18
