Don't worry about having to walk every now and then. If it helps, then do it.

If you think it might end up warm, dress in layers. Find a good, cheap throw away long sleeve shirt from Target or something and wear it till you get hot, then toss it to the side of the road when you don't need it anymore. Then have your good running stuff on underneath.

Good luck, you'll do great!

Hey Sarah...it's Sarah! (Ashlynne's friend)

Can't wait to meet you tonight! If it makes you feel any better, my running partner and I can't figure out what to wear for the race either. I guess that is good 'ole Missouri for you.

Talk to you soon!

~Sarah

I think unless its below 35 or so, you can do fine in shorts (remember, running temp is 55). But I think putting some extra layers on top and maybe some gloves (both of which you are willing to throw away) would be the way to go!

Okay, first... deep breath. ;)

13 miles while being cold would not be fun so I say dress for the coolness. Either wear things you can ditch (everyone does this - all the clothes will be gathered up and donated to a shelter) or plan to meet the husband so you can hand off the clothes.

Your hip sounds worrisome? I have no advice other than google it. Or go get a sports massage?

And do not worry about the walking. This is your first 1/2, right? I am a full believer in the walk/run - I don't think I could have finished my marathon without it. I think taking a minute of so each mile to walk forces you to pace.... and keeps you running faster longer.

You are going to have a great run!
